A little history..

The company opened its business back in 1924, when the today's company forerunner, the Shokosha Watch Research Institute produced its first pocket watch the "Citizen".

The Mayor of Tokyo, at that time, Mr Shimpei Goto, named the watch "Citizen" with the hope that the watch, considered a luxury item in those days, would become available to all citizens and even envisioned sales all across the world.
